Every artist was first an amateur.
Creativity, how does that actually work? And am I creative? Do you recognize these questions?
Don't worry - I did my research and nearly blew up my laptop trying to unravel this mystery. After a lot of searching, many mucs of coffee and a little fight with my printer (why does the paper always get jammed when you least expect it?), I found out how creativity and inspiration really work.
You may already be convinced of your creativity, but you could use some extra inspiration and encouragement. Whether you think you have more in common with a two-left-legged penguin than with an artist. I'm here to help you on your way.
So, if you're ready to get your brain sparkling and your ideas fizzing, then you've come to the right place. Let's explore the colorful world of creativity together, and who knows what masterpieces we can create!
What do you need to become (more) creative?
If you want to discover how to ignite that creative spark and gain deeper insights into inspiration, I invite you to read my blogs about creativity and inspiration. You will also discover how to tackle obstacles such as struggles with resistance and procrastination.
Do you want to take a look at my creative process? You are very welcome to take a look in my studio, while I work on my own works of art. Together we can experience the joy of creating and the magic behind completing your own work of art.
But that's not all. I invite you to join the '40 dagen 1 schets’ Facebook-groep. Twice a year we challenge each other to make a drawing every day for 40 days. Here you can not only see your own growth, but also experience the power of community as we push our creative boundaries together.
And that's just the beginning. Later this year my book and course 'Dare to Sketch' will be published, in which I share my knowledge and insights with you. In addition, you can look forward to webinars about brainstorming and inspiration. As well as an invitation to take on weekly creative challenges for a year. I promise you there is much more to come.
Talent is (also) a form of really wanting.

How did this happen?
How did it come to this? Being creative is in our nature. It's actually like riding a bike. One may have more talent for it than the other, but it is always useful when someone gives you a push in the right direction. Creativity is often associated with grandeur and spectacle. Beautiful works of art, genius inventions and stunning performances. But being creative also means looking around you and improving, changing or making something with what you see in front of you.
In my adult life I have discovered that I am indeed creative. That I can actually create something with my hands. That I have good ideas that bring me joy. And as the icing on the cake, I have found that the process of making something, from my own inspiration, produces an incredibly satisfying feeling. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to get going again. Often there are 'more important' things that 'must' happen first. But the more I bring something to life, the more I find I pick up the tools and the ideas flow more easily.
As a creative mentor, I have learned that the entire creative process has so much more to offer than just the end result. Experiencing that process and discovering your own potential is what I wish for everyone. You too. So why wait? Choose a material, get started and immerse yourself in the world of creativity. Enjoy the journey, because it's not just about the destination, it's about every step you take.
